Elizabeth Latham Elizabeth J. Latham is the Executive Director for the U.S. Committee for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP-USA). She also serves on the Board of Directors of Interaction and the Steering Committee of the United Nations Association's Council of Organizations. Elizabeth has done project coordination at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, media work for the National Security Studies Quarterly, and community mobilization for the Washington Office on Africa. In 2003 she was the inaugural recipient of UNA-USA's Global Young Advocate Award. She is in press with "CIVPOL Certification: A Model for the Recruitment and Training of Civilian Police Monitors" (World Affairs, Summer 2001) and has written for the Winter 2004 Issue of The Interdependent magazine. Rebekah McKnight is a senior at American University pursing a BA in International Studies with a focus on Latin America and International Development, and an interest the relationship between development and the environment.Growing up outside of Philadelphia, she spent her last spring semester in Havana, Cuba where she learned first-hand about development issues facing Latin America and the Caribbean.


Saphonia Foster attends University of California-Berkley, where she studies Political Science. She is actively involved in the international community and volunteers both in the United States and abroad. She recently studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina.


Micaela Klein is a sophomore at Dartmouth College majoring in Geography and Government with a minor in Arabic. Originally from Scarsdale, NY, she chose to spend her summer term in Morocco where she lived with a family for ten weeks and for the first time experienced many of the realities facing people in the developing world.


Ellen Rolfes is a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame studying music, peace studies, and public policy. From Chicago, she is very interested in human rights issues and foreign affairs and spent last summer studying in Paris. She hopes to pursue a career in diplomacy and attend graduate school for international studies or international law.


Leigh Sorkin is a Masters candidate in Public Policy with a specialization in International Development and Non-Profit Management at American University. She holds a BA in Communications and Political Science from American University. Leigh looks forward to spending her summer volunteering in South Africa, and working with local organizations that help provide people with access to education, healthcare and employment.
